On Thursday December 18, 2025, Governor Wes Moore visited Hercules Custom Iron (HCI) to celebrate their relocation into the former Flying Dog Brewery building in Frederick. This move will allow HCI to triple their current operations and double their shop and office footprint. To date, HCI has invested $3 million dollars in the new facility, CEO Evan Winston provided in a statement to the Frederick News-Post. The company has more than doubled their workforce since moving into the space and aims to employ more than 100 people within the next two years, Winston explained. The new facility will provide jobs for fabricators, welders, technicians, and support staff, while also strengthening the county’s broader manufacturing and construction supply chain. HCI's previous location was 36 W. Pennsylvania Ave, Walkersville, MD.
Hercules Custom Iron was founded almost 20 years ago as a vertically integrated division of Hercules Fence. HCI is a versatile metal fabrication, ironworks, and millwright company specializing in steel, aluminum, stainless steel, brass, glass, and more. The division produces custom-designed iron solutions, which may include ornamental fencing, gates, railings, and other fabricated metal components for commercial, industrial, and high-end residential applications.
