Serenity Swimming_1_smallSerenity Swimming opened its doors to the public in June of 2025, welcoming people of all ages and abilities to their state-of-the-art facility next to the Frederick Municipal Airport. The Frederick County Office of Economic Development (FCOED) was thrilled to attend their official grand opening and ribbon cutting this week, joining several other organizations from across the county that played a role in helping bring owner Jenni Hoover’s dream to life.

Throughout her business journey, Jenni has utilized many of the opportunities and resources available to local entrepreneurs. Serenity Swimming was the first recipient of FCOED’s EmPOWER Loan Program, a micro-loan that provides capital to graduates of EmPOWER Mentorship. These funds helped Serenity Swimming to build out their new space, which was designed from the ground-up to be Frederick County’s premier location for swimming instruction. Jenni’s participation in the EmPOWER Loan Program, as well as locally organized competitions like S.H.E. Pitch, set her up with the knowledge and resources to succeed as a business owner.

Serenity Swimming worked closely with the Frederick area community to identify needs and used that information to offer a wide range of services. You can find out more about the business’s various programs by visiting their website. Below is a short list of some of the services they provide:

  • 1:1 swim lessons (ages 1-99)
  • Splash Pods (youth non-competitive swim team)
  • Adult workout group
  • She Swims (women only fitness)
  • Summer camps

Before cutting the ribbon to officially open the new facility, Jenni took a moment to share a few words to mark the special occasionSerenity Swimming_6_small:

“A little more than two and a half years ago, I had a vision of creating a place where families could feel safe, supported, and inspired. A place where children and adults alike could discover confidence and joy in the water, no matter their ability or age. A pool dedicated to swim instruction with every design choice. Two years ago I invited the public to share this vision at the annual S.H.E. Pitch Competition. That night, the community response was overwhelming. Frederick needed this, so I kept pushing. As we stand here today, that dream has become a reality, and some of those same S.H.E. Pitch audience members are now our students. I am so grateful for the support of all the people who made it possible for us to be here today.”

“We opened on June 6th and our first client was here three hours after we received our occupancy certificate. Over the last 6 weeks we have made huge strides in water and safety skills. We’ve had kids who have struggled in other programs already feeling at home and comfortable here. We’ve had parents in tears of joy, we’ve had parents no longer having to drive to other counties for swim lessons, and we even have some parents traveling from other counties just to learn with us. It’s pretty amazing to see the impact we’ve already had in just 46 days.”
