Maryland Women's Business Center
Women now create businesses at more than twice the rate of men. In Frederick County, women-owned businesses have increased 58% from 2002-2012 and represent more than 7,000 of the County’s businesses.
The path to starting and sustaining a successful enterprise that leads to a stable and substantial income for the owner can be rocky and as a result, many women-owned businesses start without an adequate plan, fail to make the transition to CEO, or stay too small and end up operating below the margins of success or fail prematurely. That’s where the Maryland Women’s Business Center can help women think strategically from the beginning about building a business that allows them to succeed over the long-term.
The Maryland Women’s Business Center (MWBC) is an SBA-certified Women’s Business Center and one of 106 nationwide. MWBC operates in three counties with the state of Maryland and the Frederick office is served on Mondays, Wedesdays and Fridays at the Frederick County Office of Economic Development.
