David is a service-focused CPA and CFP® who finds joy in helping clients meet their financial goals and tax-compliance responsibilities.  Working at a small firm, David has been blessed since the beginning of his career to engage directly with different business leaders to learn about how they serve the community in a wide range of industries.  David lends his financial acumen to various community groups.

What is your experience with volunteering and civic engagement?

I am the Chair of the finance committee of St. Ann Catholic Church.  I serve on the School Board of St. Mary’s Catholic School, and I am a member of the finance committee at St. Maria Goretti High School and a member of the College of Liberal Arts Advisory Board at MSMU.

With my wife, we work to support the mission of the MSMU.  We endowed a scholarship focused on the intersection of economic, political, and religious liberty.

What do you like to do for fun in Frederick County?

Visit the local breweries; enjoy the beautiful countryside.

Who is your greatest influence?

My father, Mike, and his partner Jim Draper, who together founded the firm in 1982, have both been great examples of dedicated service to clients, putting the client’s needs first, and striving for excellence in our profession.

What is your favorite leadership book?

The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien shows a variety of leaders who must face great challenges and make substantial sacrifices in exercising servant leadership, but each has different gifts and talents he or she employs.

What behavior or personality trait do you most attribute to your success and why?

Humility.  Knowing that I do not have all the answers; recognizing that there are often many ways to accomplish a task; and seeking answers and listening with an open mind.
