Dr. Ashley Waters is an organizer, maximizer, creator and evaluator committed to continuous learning and deepening community impact. With degrees in Public Administration and Nonprofit Management, Ashley enjoys helping organizations create and sustain momentum. She currently serves as the executive director of Woman to Woman Mentoring and teaches at Frederick Community College.

What has been your greatest professional accomplishment? 

I have felt most accomplished when I have provided access to someone in need, whether it was access to healthcare, education, financial, or public information. I have seen access serve as a launching point many times. There is truly no greater moment in my professional life.

Name one award you are most proud to have received.

Not exactly an award, but being selected as a LFC 2020 Class Speaker. Being chosen by your peers is something special.

What was your first job?

My very first? Working at a local restaurant during my County fair in PA

What do you like to do for fun in Frederick County?

Enjoy the local beer and food scene; enjoy the local parks and outside amenities with my family

Who has a great influence on your professional life?

I have been blessed with many mentors in my life - each of them has taught me something that has helped guide me into the woman I have become. Having mentors, advisors, and sponsors is so important to self-growth and progress.

What book on leadership do you recommend and why?

Give and Take by Adam Grant; it truly shows why it is important to give personally and professionally as one works to become "successful"

What behavior or personality trait do you most attribute to your success and why?

Following up and through - I do what I say I'm going to do. This unfortunately is becoming more and more rare so I find many colleagues and collaborators appreciate this quality as we work towards our goals.

Continuing to serve the Frederick community professionally and personally
