Support and Community for Women in Business

Women supporting other women: that’s the message behind a new monthly event from the Maryland Women’s Business Center (MWBC). In addition to the group’s training sessions and one-on-one counseling, the MWBC recently launched a virtual event called Coffee and Connections. Coffee and Connections is a community for women entrepreneurs in Frederick County who wish to connect with other like-minded business owners. This monthly event is facilitated by Frederick County’s MWBC Counselor, Karen Kalantzis. The goal is to create a nurturing community to provide support and relief, and allow for business growth. Over the next year, the Coffee and Connections group will network, do business with one another, learn from one another, and build a supportive community.

These virtual meetings are held the last Thursday of each month from 10:00-11:15a.m. Each event includes introductions, an expert guest speaker, breakout rooms with great discussion, and sharing time as a group. The speaker’s subject changes each month with a variety of topics relevant to women in business. At January’s event, the group learned about goal setting, while February was all about branding.

Interested entrepreneurs can register for each Coffee and Connections event at www.marylandwbc.org. The next meeting is scheduled for March 25th and will feature Jennifer Tyler of FCB Bank. You can also find the full calendar of trainings offered by the Maryland Women’s Business Center at www.marylandwbc.org.
