Every business owner has their “Elevator Pitch” to explain what their company does and they do it better than their competition - so after perfecting that pitch, why not put it on video to share with investors, customers etc.? For the past year, the Frederick County Office of Economic Development (OED) has been recording and putting together pitch videos through the Business Pitch Services at the ROOT building. After a year of pitches, it’s the perfect time to take a look back at some of the great videos that were created.
On Tuesday, September 24, ROOT will host the very first business pitch video competition. Three pitch videos have been randomly selected to compete at this event. The videos each represents a very different industry. Those three companies have the opportunity to win big, as cash prizes are on the line. All three videos will be shown to the Pitch Competition crowd, including a panel of judges. Those judges represent sponsors and partners of the ROOT’s Business Pitch Services. Judges will gather and select a winner, while the crowd will cast their votes as well. The Judges’ Choice winner receives $1,000, and the People’s Choice winner also gets $1,000. That means if one company manages to win over the room, they could potentially win both awards and walk away with $2,000 in their pocket. So that no one walks away empty-handed, a $250 award will also be given to the remaining company or companies. Everyone wins at this competition, but we can’t wait to see who wins big!
