Rainforest Distribution Relocates Mid-Atlantic Distribution Center to Frederick

The Frederick County Office of Economic Development (OED) announces the relocation of Rainforest Distribution to Frederick. Founded in 2012, this organic food distributor with headquarters in Bayonne, New Jersey, brings 45 jobs to Frederick with plans to add 70 more by the end of 2018. Their new 27,000 square foot location is located at Wedgewood West, 4640 New Design Road in Frederick.

“Rainforest Distribution is a great example of a growing company who found the strategic location of Frederick County to be the perfect choice for their business needs and future expansion goals,” said Director of OED Helen Propheter.

OED worked with the company to Fast Track their permitting process. Jodie Bollinger, Business Development Specialist for OED, assisted the company throughout the project. “Frederick County’s Fast Track Permitting is an economic development tool that helps companies meet their time frame and allows them to quickly open for business,” said Jodie Bollinger. “Applicants receive points based on criteria such as job creation, targeted industry, capital investment and average annual salaries,” Bollinger commented.

Rainforest Distribution serves more than 2,000 customers in the Mid-Atlantic region with Whole Foods being their top customer. In June 2017 Rainforest and Trickling Springs Creamery based in Pennsylvania, entered a partnership to strengthen their premium, grass fed dairy brands throughout the East Coast.  As of August 2017, Rainforest now owns and operates Trickling Springs’ existing direct distribution service operating throughout VA, MD, Washington DC, DE, PA and certain counties of WV.
