From October 25-29, 2021 the Frederick County Office of Economic Development (OED) celebrated its 21st annual Business Appreciation Week (BAW). Over that week, teams of ambassadors virtually visited more than 100 businesses from throughout Frederick County. This year’s event theme of “Going the Distance” celebrated businesses who expanded, located or started a business in Frederick County in 2020 and 2021.
This year OED partnered with Manning Media to offer participating businesses free extensive marketing exposure. This included ads in various publications, website listings, marketing videos, podcasts and more. One BAW business was randomly selected to receive a personalized marketing package from Manning Media worth $5,000! Peace, a shop located on East Patrick Street in downtown Frederick received the grand prize.
Founders Jordan and Quron Lewis came up with the idea for their shop during the COVID-19 pandemic. With the sudden pause from normal life, the Lewises found themselves taking time to enjoy the little things at home. From workouts and meditation, to cooking and being present with their son, they enjoyed the slower pace of life. They took this idea of self care and turned it into a shop: Peace the shop. With dreams of “new century hippie vibes,” they found the perfect space in downtown Frederick. Friends and family pitched in to help Jordan and Quron turn the sunny storefront into a peaceful and beautiful space, fitting of the business’s name. Peace the shop had its official grand opening in June of 2021.
