Owner and Clinical Director of Brooks Behavioral Health Services, LLC, David Brooks, MA, LCADC, is fondly called “The Cadillac Counselor” because of his one-of-a-kind personality.
Brooks received his BA and Masters of Arts & Science from Prairie View A&M University in Texas. He is a Licensed Therapist, Criminogenic Specialist, Business Owner, Telehealth Provider, and Adjunct Professor. Brooks has worked in the behavioral health field for almost 20 years. Since starting his business in 2017 with his wife, Brooks has developed and implemented substance abuse treatment programs throughout the Frederick community. His work includes establishing a private substance-abuse focused treatment center in downtown Frederick and designing a curriculum to teach recovery addicts how to gain livable income employment (this work was funded through a Frederick County Workforce grant).
Brooks has also worked at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center while being an employee of the Frederick County Health Department to advocate for improved inmate support and to provide quality services for the incarcerated population. Through this work, he reduced the recidivism rate to less than 10%. In addition, Brooks has developed programs within incarceration facilities, drug court, veteran’s court, and workforce models.
As a self-starter and adjunct professor at Mount Saint Mary’s University himself, Brooks enjoys learning about “anything and everything” he can. Brooks decided to take the Frederick County Minority Business Executive Development Program to expand his business executive knowledge.
When speaking on the importance of diversity, Brooks finds that we are all different and have unique perspectives, which helps us become a stronger community.
