Keeping a Legacy Alive Through Fresh Food and Happy Customers

Greek Aroma, tucked away in a small shopping center located at 177-D Thomas Johnson Dr., opened in 2009 by its original owner Hakan Buyukcan, also known as “John.” John was born in Turkey and enjoyed cooking for his family. He decided to open Greek Aroma after realizing that there weren’t any other Greek restaurants in Frederick County that offered a large variety of options.

The restaurant was started with a specific goal in mind; to provide quality, homemade style cooking and to make customers happy.

Greek Aroma quickly became a staple for Greek cuisine in Frederick County. Customers raved about the fresh and authentic food, variety of options on the menu and affordable prices.

Unfortunately, in 2012, John passed away after battling pancreatic cancer, leaving his legacy behind.

Nearly ten years after John’s passing and after facing challenges that food industry businesses experienced after the pandemic hit, Juve Lima, the restaurant’s current owner, continuously strives to honor John and keep his legacy alive.

“The pandemic has been a challenging time for the food industry and I think we are all trying to persevere. Even through the challenges of today, it is a priority to keep our customers happy so that they come back tomorrow,” says Juve. “We are very grateful to all the customers who understand those challenges and empathize with us and a staff that works hard to keep us going,” he adds.

Today you will find that the establishment remains populated with satisfied customers, especially at lunchtime. The menu offers a wide variety of affordable options ranging from gyros, souvlaki, kebobs, baklava and their popular platters.

As a way to continue to make customers happy, Greek Aroma has added a delivery option for their convenience.
