Business Attraction and Finance Team

Led by Beth A. Woodring, this team includes Troy Bolyard, Amanda Lee and Cindy Harris. The Attraction team is all about bringing new business into Frederick County that create jobs and invest in our local community. Acting as the salespeople for our area, they promote the advantages of doing business here and work to identify appropriate site options and incentives to businesses looking to relocate or open additional locations. Their passion for Frederick County and knowledge of available resources makes the decision to choose this area to do business an easy one.

 

Beth A Woodring, Director of Business Attraction & Finance

How long have you been with FCOED? 

2.5 years

Describe your position/responsibilities.

The team identifies and responds to opportunities to attract businesses to Frederick within our targeted industries.  My role is to insure that we align opportunities with overall goals and continually promote Frederick County as a desirable location for businesses to start, locate and grow.

Favorite part about your job?  

Every day I get to talk about all the unique and amazing aspects that make Frederick so great.  The enthusiasm for Frederick is contagious and I experience the deep community pride from my co-workers, our partners and clients, which makes me excited to live and work here! 

What was the last book your read?

Nine Perfect Strangers

Fun facts about you 

  1. I have hiked glaciers in Alaska and Iceland
  2. In 2018 I snorkeled the Silfra Fissure between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates (Iceland)
  3. As a child my dream job was to be a flight attendant, which I believe stemmed from my fascination with traveling and exploring new places.  

 

Troy Bolyard, Senior Business Attraction Manager

How long have you been with FCOED?

Since March of 2020

Describe your position/responsibilities.

Attraction of business to the county, sell the community, business atmosphere/climate, ability to grow, workforce and overall opportunities that are available. 

Favorite part about your job?

Relationship building and ability to assist the county in growth both in business & employee numbers. 

Fun facts about you

  1. Male Lead in Hello Dolly
  2. Member of large singing group in HS that performed at several major events including lighting of National Christmas Tree & in Las Vegas

 

Amanda Lee, Manager of Market Research and Data Analysis

How long have you been with FCOED?

3 Years

Describe your position/responsibilities

I spearhead the data and research needs of FCOED and the Business Attraction Team. In addition, I manage DiscoverFrederickMD.com and other supporting websites, lead projects such as development of the annual Top 50 Magazine in combination with the Annual Report and support FCOED marketing initiatives.

Favorite part about your job?

The people! I have the best coworkers. I enjoy collaborating with our partners and learning about the people that make up the business community here in Frederick County. 

What was the last book you read?

The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake

Fun facts about you

  1. While in London, I visited 221B Baker Street (address of my favorite fictional detective Sherlock Holmes). Unfortunately, he was not home.
  2. I swam with sharks.
  3. I examined an Egyptian mummy in my college archaeology class.

 

Cindy Harris, Executive Assistant and Project Coordinator

How long have you been with FCOED?

3 ½ years

Describe your position/responsibilities.

I am the main point of contact for our department and am responsible for our budget and procurement, assisting with events and overall administrative support for our team.

Favorite part about your job?

Participating in Business Appreciation Week (BAW).  Each year, we visit over 100 businesses to learn about their story, challenges and extend our support and resources to each one. It is a very busy week but is also very rewarding and exciting to hear about the enthusiasm and passions of the unique businesses in the area.
