The Frederick County Office of Economic Development (OED), in partnership with Mount St. Mary’s University and Hood College, has initiated the 2020 Frederick County Minority Business Executive Development program. Platinum PR, who is developing a Diversity and Inclusion pilot program with OED, is assisting with the program. The program was developed for minority business owners and mid-level and senior management executives representing small, medium and large businesses. The program was designed for business leaders to enhance and acquire new tools and techniques to further develop skills in Business Accounting and Finance, Marketing, Promotion and Advertising, Organizational Management and Organizational Leadership.
Every Friday in September the class of 11 professionals meet and learn from Mount St. Mary’s and Hood College professors. The sessions are being offered in-class at the Frederick County Visitor Center, as well as online through Zoom. According to Helen Propheter, Executive Director for the Frederick County Office of Economic Development, “We are thrilled to partner with Mount St. Mary’s University and Hood College for an advanced minority educational program. The leaders enrolled in this program all have diverse backgrounds and appreciate the opportunity to network and learn from one another.”
Two classes were held, Business Accounting and Finance and Marketing, Promotion and Advertising. Organizational Management is scheduled to take place on September 18, 2020 and the last class will take place on September 25, 2020. Each class is two hours long with instruction and the opportunity to network with one another. The class originally was to take place in March 2020 but due to COVID19, the class was rescheduled for September.
