Frederick County Economic Development to Launch HomegrownFrederick.com at Keys Game

Please join the Frederick County Office of Economic Development (OED) at the Frederick Keys Nymeo Field on June 16, 2016 at 7:00pm as they launch their new agricultural website HomegrownFrederick.com and celebrate Frederick County’s rich agricultural heritage and bright future with the community.

“We are pleased to offer this service to Frederick County as another way to support agriculture,” said OED’s Director Helen Propheter. “We couldn’t be more excited to be the Game Day sponsor and to partner with the Frederick Keys, Visit Frederick and Frederick Magazine to promote our agriculture in a big way this year. This is a unique partnership and there is no better way to celebrate our agriculture roots than with America's favorite past time.”

The event will include a farmers market from 3:00pm to 6:00pm in the Keys parking lot . “The farmers market before the game is a great way to bring the farm to the game. Come out and support Frederick County farms,” said Katie Albaugh, Frederick County Business Development Specialist for Agriculture.

HomegrownFrederick.com is a service of the Frederick County Office of Economic Development and aims to serve farmers and citizens by promoting local agriculture and business in order to preserve the rich heritage of Frederick County. The website includes a revamped look for Frederick County’s agriculture marketing programs. The site includes a listing of creameries, Christmas tree farms, horse farms, farmers markets, CSAs, events on the farm, Family Festival at the Farm details and restaurants that feature locally-grown foods. The previous Frederick County Virtual Farmers Market has been redone to feature 75 farms with searchable products displayed on a map.

A section on Frederick County’s rapidly growing Craft Beverages industry is displayed and users can search for wineries, breweries and distilleries. With the “farm-to-glass” movement on the rise nationally and locally, OED has used mapping technology for Frederick County’s craft beverages industry to help make visiting these locations easier.
