June 17 – NCI Tech Showcase – In its fourth year, and in partnership with the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research (FNLCR), this half-day event will showcase technologies being developed at NCI and FNLCR and educational sessions on technology transfer and starting a business. Who should attend? Prospective investors, established companies, educators, those looking to commercialize technologies and all interested stakeholders. July 28 – Best Places to Work – The Frederick County Best Places to Work campaign recognizes the county’s most innovative, creative, and forward-thinking employers. October 5-9 – 20th Annual Business Appreciation Week – Participate in our 20th annual Business Appreciation Week, where a small group of ambassadors comprised of leaders in the community will visit your business and learn more about what you do, thank you for operating in Frederick County, and share resources available to you.  Participate this year and be invited to our Annual Business Reception!  For more information, contact our office at info@discoverfrederickmd.com or 301-600-1058.

October 17-18 – Homegrown Hay Days – Learn more about agriculture in Frederick County by participating in our annual weekend highlighting farms around the county.  Participating farms offer a variety of special activities and events for all ages – from family fun at the pumpkin patch, visiting an alpaca farm, or enjoying an afternoon at a local winery, brewery or distillery.  Look for detailed information and a list of all participating farms and agri-businesses in the coming months.  For more information, visit www.homegrownfrederick.com.

September 9 – FRED Awards - The Frederick Real Estate Dealmakers (FRED) Awards honor the most successful commercial real estate transactions and projects each year– and the people who made them happen. September 13-21 – Homegrown Frederick Wineries, Breweries, and Distilleries Showcase at the Great Frederick Fair - Stop by Building 13 during the Great Frederick Fair to learn how traditional agriculture is blending with this emerging industry of craft beverages. This building showcases educational displays and demonstrations, as well as the opportunity to enjoy some of the best Frederick County craft beverages.

December 9 – Annual Business Reception – This is the premier business networking event of the year. This celebration of 2019’s business successes brings together more than 200 business leaders, 2020 Business Appreciation Week participants and economic development partners for this exclusive invitation-only evening of networking and celebration.


Minority Business Vision Networking Events (MBV) (monthly) – Whether you are looking to start or grow a business all minority, veteran or women-owned business leaders are invited to join us at our monthly MBV networking events on the third Thursday of every month, 5-7 pm, in the ROOT building at 118 N. Frederick County Manufacturers Roundtable – OED hosts Manufacturers Roundtable events throughout the year. Topics range from Lunch, Learn and Tour events - where participants network with one another, tour manufacturing facilities and learn from leaders relevant manufacturing related topics – to educational events on topics of specific interest to the manufacturing industry.
