Celebrating Workforce Development Professionals Month

The workforce development industry is an important component of a growing economy – across the nation and right here in Frederick County.

Frederick County’s workforce development system is comprised of a network of partner agencies that are all aligned with a similar purpose – to grow our local workforce with skilled employees that meet the changing needs of our local businesses.

Some of the partners in this effort include:

  • Frederick County Workforce Services
  • Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing, Regulation
  • Frederick County Public Schools
  • Frederick Community College

In addition to these organizations, there are many others in the Frederick community that contribute to the success of a talented workforce and its economic strength.

Together, all of the workforce development professionals in our community collaborate to provide critical links between:

  • Businesses looking to hire
  • The pool of available job seekers
  • Education, training and support resources

These efforts by local workforce development professionals ensure that the labor market in Frederick County is prepared and ready to meet business demands and help businesses to succeed!

To raise awareness about the importance of highly skilled workforce development professionals, the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NADWP) has officially designated the month of September as Workforce Development Professionals Month.

In honor of Workforce Development Professionals Month, we’ll be sharing some of the ways that workforce development initiatives have had an impact on the Frederick community in the past year, such as:

Coordinating 196 customized recruitments on behalf of local businesses

Training 130 young adults at over 50 local worksite organizations

Delivering valuable services to over 1,000 monthly visitors to the American Job Center, the County’s NEW location for professional workforce development resources
