Business Appreciation Week 2021

Today we kick off the biggest retention event in the state of Maryland and our favorite time of the year –  Business Appreciation Week (BAW)

This year we’re celebrating over 100 businesses who have “Gone the Distance” by starting, expanding, or locating to Frederick County during 2020-2021. OED has been coordinating BAW for 21 years and it is a great opportunity to meet with our business community, thank them for all they do for our economy, provide resources for growth and form long lasting relationships.

This year OED and about 40 Economic Development ambassadors will virtually meet with our BAW businesses.  We have partnered with Manning Media, Frederick News Post and Frederick Magazine to provide our participating businesses maximum marketing exposure.  OED will be highlighting the businesses through social media throughout the week. And, one lucky BAW business will win a marketing package (worth $5,000) from Manning Media.

Frederick County’s business community is growing. BAW businesses who have started, expanded or located to Frederick County represent an additional 1,094 jobs and over 84,000 additional square feet and contributed more than $88 million in capital investment.

Throughout the week, we will be sharing information about some of our businesses and testing your knowledge with a business trivia competition. Keep an eye on OED’s Facebook page for trivia questions at 9am and 1pm, Monday through Friday. Each day’s winners will be entered into a drawing to win a grand prize from Frederick Basket Company at the end of the week. We can’t wait to announce the final winner Friday afternoon! So make sure to follow along on Facebook.

Happy Business Appreciation Week, Frederick County!
