Beth A Woodring joins OED as the Director of Business Attraction and Marketing where she will lead a team of professional staff to attract new businesses to Frederick County.
Beth brings an extensive history in economic development and finance to her new role. Originally working as a commercial lender Beth moved into her first economic development role with the State of Maryland DBED (now Commerce) where she spent 8 years supporting business attraction, retention and expansion efforts across the State including significant work in the then emerging biotechnology industry. Beth also worked regionally with entrepreneurs and small business owners as a business counselor and most recently managed a State of Maryland VLT loan fund program that supported over $10M in small business loans.
She received a BA in Economics and Spanish from Bucknell University and a MAS in Business Administration from Johns Hopkins University. In 2018 Beth completed the Towson University Professional Leadership Program for Women.
Beth has 2 daughters, Miranda and Olivia, and currently resides in Carroll County with 2 rescue dogs and 2 rescue cats.

- She loves to garden and enjoys finding unusual plants for her garden.
- She is passionate about animal welfare and animal rescue and volunteers as a foster, rescue transport driver and advocate.
- She enjoys traveling and her latest adventure included snorkeling in Iceland in February.
- She just became an empty nester when her youngest daughter started college at American University.
