Lori Himes, owner of Abloom LTD, Flowers and Events recently reflected on this past Valentine’s Day. Her shop which is located at 51 Maple Avenue in Walkersville opened in 1992 and employs three full-time and six part times employees. Lori stated “flowers make you happy and make you feel good.” Abloom, LTD offers unique custom floral arrangements incorporating the freshest floral products from local, national and around the world sources.
Valentine’s Day is the biggest day for the floral industry and surprisingly Valentine’s Day for 2021 exceeded sales from the previous year despite the pandemic. Lori stated there was twice the demand for deliveries and virtually no walk-in traffic. Since Valentine’s Day fell on a Sunday this year deliveries were offered. Most of the orders were placed online and the three trucks they use were fully utilized. Each vehicle had two people, the driver and the “jumper” who was actually the person who made the delivery at designated stops.
The floral industry is year round and can be utilized for an array of events from weddings to funerals and the selection process is endless based on one’s individual taste. According to Lori, “each individual selection is personalized and you can express yourself by your selection and arrangement.” Abloom LTD
