2019 Best Places to Work Awards

Frederick County is home to successful businesses of all shapes and sizes. From the smallest of start-ups to the massive-sized manufacturers, they all help to make our county what it is today. Each year, the Frederick County Best Places to Work committee takes a look inside those businesses to hear from their most important asset: the employees.

During the month of April, employees from various industries wrote in to nominate their company as one of the best places to work in Frederick County. The committee, made up of representatives from Frederick County’s Office of Economic Development and Workforce Services, along with the City of Frederick Department of Economic Development and the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce, read through each and every nomination. Dozens of nominations were sent in, and through a scoring system, they were narrowed down to 5 winners- 1 company in each size category.

On July 30th, business leaders, proud employees, sponsors, partners and elected officials gathered at the Delaplaine Arts Center in Frederick to celebrate this year’s Best Places to Work. Here are the results:

  • Small Employer (1-10 employees) – Jim Bass Group of Real Estate Teams
  • Small to Medium Employer (11-30 employees) – Orases
  • Medium to Large Employer (31-50 employees) – RoosterBio
  • Large Employer (51-200 employees) – Asbury Communities
  • Major Employer (over 200 employees) – AstraZeneca

All five companies were presented with awards and thanked for their contribution to Frederick County.

With so many nominations received, the Best Places to Work committee also recognized the companies that truly represent this year’s event theme: “Who’s Having Fun?” Matan Companies, Z Video Relay Service, and Surelocked In Escape Games all proved that they make sure their employees are working hard but still making time for fun.
