Tereance Moore is the owner of Tereance Moore Consulting, LLC, a co-founder of the Western Maryland Community Development Corporation, a co-founder of Mediation First, Inc., and a conflict-resolution and human-services advocate.
Moore holds a BA in Organizational Leadership from the University of Charleston. Moore made Hagerstown, MD, his home in 2004 after relocating from his home in Far Rockaway, NY, where he and his seven siblings were raised. Tereance spent nearly two decades in the financial sector working as a Sr. Project Management supporting operations and technology globally before pursuing his current endeavors.
Aside from running two businesses and a nonprofit, Moore also resides on eight different boards and committees across Maryland, including United Way of Washington County, Maryland Symphony Orchestra, Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, SCORE Black American Committee, Leadership Washington County, Community Mediation Maryland, Heart of the Civil War Heritage Area and the Greater Hagerstown Committee. He was appointed to serve on the Maryland Commission on Civil Rights’ Western Maryland Advisory Council in 2019.
Moore decided to take the Frederick County Minority Business Executive Development class for the networking opportunities, education, and experience. Moore states, “I believe minority business owners are rarely provided an opportunity to learn, network, and support one another in an environment where they don't feel the pressures of being the minority. I believe this class will sharpen my skills and allow me to learn and network with a peer group that may be more inclined to understand the obstacles of inequity I've had to overcome.”
To Moore, “Diversity is welcoming and honoring different groups and people, by empowering them to not only be present but to contribute to the culture. It’s respecting and appreciating what makes them different, without forcing conformity.”
Moore is excited to get to know and understand Frederick County better through this course, while also sharpening his business skills.
