Inaugural Technology Showcase Helps Fuel Frederick’s Innovation Business Climate

The inaugural 2017 Technology Showcase, held June 7th at the Frederick National Laboratory for Cancer Research’s (FNLCR) Advanced Technology Research Facility (ATRF) in Frederick, attracted over 200 attendees. The goal for the event was to introduce the business and investor community to the technologies being developed at NCI and FNLCR, encouraging startup company formation, technology licensing and collaborations.

The agenda was packed full of technology presentations by NCI and FNLCR researchers, as well as regional technology stakeholders involved with technology development and commercialization. An interactive poster session by innovators and technology ambassadors occurred concurrently. The day wrapped up with a special edition of FredCo Bio BioBeers, Frederick’s best bio networking event, sponsored by Matan Development, Frederick County Office of Economic Development (OED) and the City of Frederick Department of Economic Development (DED).

Heather Gramm, Assistant Director of OED, said “We were thrilled to sponsor and co-host this event with our many partner organizations. Many of the technologies presented are being developed right here in Frederick, and we have the talent and entrepreneurial spirit to tap into these commercialization opportunities and continue to grow Frederick’s life sciences industry.”
