Frederick County, #4 for Census Response Rate

The Maryland Department of Planning has released an interactive dashboard showing Maryland’s response rate to the 2020 Census.  In Maryland, 67.1% of the households have responded to the 2020 Census.  Frederick County is one of the top five counties to respond!

The top five counties to respond are as follows:

  1. Carroll County
  2. Howard County
  3. Harford County
  4. Frederick County
  5. Montgomery County

Your response to the 2020 Census will help determine how hundreds of bilions of dollars in federal funding will flow into communities each year for the next 10 years.  What does the Census help fund?  Here are a few things:

  • EMTs, paramedics, and fire departments
  • Future vaccines, hospitals, and other healthcare needs
  • Nutrition programs like SNAP, WIC, and school lunches
  • Infrastructure improvements for roads, parks, and playgorunds.

In addition to determining how federal funding will be distributed, business owners rely on census data to make decisions, such as where to open new stores, restaurants, factories, or offices.  They will use this data on deciding where to expand and where to recruit, also which products and services to offer.
