Technology is one of Frederick’s key economic growth engines. As more tech businesses launch and expand here, the County also benefits from a pool of local tech talent that is growing both in numbers, and sophistication.
In an effort to expand business attraction services, OED along with other partner organizations hosted two bus groups to tour Frederick in October.
Early-stage technology company GOEFER has teamed up with ROOT’s five partner organizations to conduct a pilot program of the company’s proprietary energy technology, which analyzes energy usage and gives users greater control.
OED worked with 184 companies in Fiscal Year 2018 who chose to locate or expand in Frederick County. The department helped to create 747 jobs and retain 976 existing jobs, representing more than $10M of capital investment to Frederick County.
