Business Pitch Services Available at ROOT

The Frederick County Office of Economic Development (OED) has created three business pitch services to help grow all businesses in Frederick County. These opportunities are available at ROOT, Frederick County’s downtown business innovation center located at 118 N. Market St in downtown Frederick, Maryland.

“At ROOT, the partnership of the Frederick County Office of Economic Development (OED), the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce, the Frederick Innovative Technology Center, Inc (FITCI)’s technology incubator, Hood College, CREST and others, makes ROOT a one-stop shop for entrepreneurial resources to help businesses grow,” said OED Director Helen Propheter.  “This is one more tool in our toolbox that businesses can access and we are pleased to be able to offer these unique services at no charge to local businesses.”

OED has partnered with Pitch Creator, an online, self-paced program designed for individual entrepreneurs who want to pitch to investors to raise capital for their business. Complimentary licenses are available through OE for businesses who qualify. Pitch Creator was featured in Inc Magazine and is used at several universities and colleges including Johns Hopkins University, the University of Maryland at Baltimore County and the University of Delaware to teach their entrepreneurship students.

“A well-crafted business pitch can be used to raise capital, attract investors, explain a business to potential partners and boards of directors,” said Propheter. “While a pitch can be daunting at first, it is valuable to entrepreneurs looking to take their business to the next level.”

Once the pitch is fine-tuned, the Business Pitch Room is an additional resource available at ROOT to help businesses bring their pitch to life. The Business Pitch Room is a state-of-the-art video studio with the latest technology that allows businesses to have their pitch videotaped by professional audio visual staff. Videos may be used to apply for bank financing, grants, business contests and for attracting investors.

The Business Pitch Room may also be used for video marketing purposes for businesses. These 30-second commercials can be used for websites, social media and more.

“I’d like to thank the Rural Maryland Council for the grant that helped make the Business Pitch Room possible. In addition, our sponsors: M&T Bank, Tech Frederick, McShea Properties and Frederick County Bank, for sponsoring this project to help grow business in Frederick County,” commented Ms. Propheter.

Video pitches are taped every 4th Wednesday of the month from 9:00am to Noon, or other accommodations may be made. To get started with business pitch services, please visit www.discoverfrederickmd.com/pitch or call OED at 301-600-1058.
