Business Development Advisory Council

 

The Business Development Advisory Council (BDAC) of Frederick County is an advisory body created by the Board of

County Commissioners for the purpose of sharing ideas, solutions, and creative approaches to business development

concerns and issues facing Frederick County. BDAC members are appointed by the Board of County Commissioners and

serve a term of 3 years.  BDAC holds at least 6 regular meetings per year.

Strategic Priorities - FY 07

1. Maximize our efforts to retain and support our existing businesses, recognizing that small businesses are
the backbone of our economy.
2. Participate in the development of land-use, infrastructure planning and implementation strategies that
balance the enviable quality of life and the economic vitality of Frederick County.
3. Help develop future leaders for City/County to help achieve long-term economic sustainability and quality
of life by collaborating with business and civic leaders (i.e. Chamber, etc.) to promote sound,
regionally-focused public policy.
4. Work with Frederick Innovative Technology Center Inc. (FITCI), Fort Detrick, NCI and our educational
institutions to establish business incubator programs to grow businesses and technology in Frederick County.
5. Continue to support and promote Frederick County's workforce and educational system as a critical element
of economic development strategy.
6. Continue to attract business and entrepreneurs to Frederick County.
7. Support County's one-stop review and permitting center by providing meaningful customer input for the
purpose of continuously streamlining and improving the process.
8. Support Fort Detrick.
