Web-Based Resources:
- Entrepreneur Support Network – Learn about the wealth of free support available to local businesses from a number of business support agencies and non-profits. Learn who they are, what they do, and how to contact them.
- Hiring Your First Employee – A step-by-step guide to hiring your first employee (or making sure that you’ve done it right), complete with helpful weblinks to additional information and required forms.
- Business License Information System – Find out what licenses will be required for your business.
- Department of Assessments and Taxation (Name Search) – Confirm that the business name you have in mind is available in the state of Maryland.

- IRS Federal Employer Identification Number (EIN) – Most businesses, even those without employees, should have an EIN. Get yours here.
